It has been HOT-HOT-HOT in Chicagoland! We have the fashions here at Crazee Kandee that not only look cool, but keep you cool too! You may be stepping out on the town or going to a backyard BBQ, no matter the occasion we have the works to put it all together for you! Pinup Girl Contest – Kandee Girl Model Search for 2012 Calendar

On April 7^th Crazee Kandee held it’s first annual pinup girl model search party. The actual contest ran for several weeks before giving each contestant the opportunity to gain points and votes through Facebook, our in-store ballot box and by inviting guests out to the event. 17 beautiful ladies entered the contest on the 7^th and several others were included in the studio since the event was strictly 21 and over.

The night was a huge success with a great turnout of a couple hundred people to cheer on the contestants.

Betty Page and "pin-up" make up

Bettie Page knew what she was doing when it came to style, from her sexy, slinky wardrobe and her slick black hair. Possibly the most famous of all pin up girls, Bettie's bright red lips and dark black eyes are now essential parts to the pin up style. If you'd like to look like Bettie, or any of her sexy/sultry companions, a few makeup tips can get you started.

~Make sure that your eyebrows are perfectly plucked and groomed, as sharp high-lifting brows are characteristic of these sexy ladies. The inner corners of your brows should be the thickest point, thinning out towards the tips. Before you are finished with your makeup, you can color your brows in thoroughly with an eyebrow pencil to add drama to the look.

~Start with a foundation that matches your skin tone, selecting a slightly lighter color if you can't find the perfect match. Pin ups generally have that perfect, milky skin tone, so make sure that you blend well and cover any flaws

~Use a large blush brush to apply highlighting powder anywhere that light naturally falls, such as the forehead, nose, just above the cheekbones and even your chest.

~Apply a very light shimmery eyeshadow to your entire eyelid from lashes to brow ridge, working it into the skin as much as possible to create highlight and depth. Using a darker color eyeshadow like a deep brown in the crease making a sideways 7 from crease to outer lid. And Blend

~To create a "Cat Eye"

You have two main options for product--liquid liner or pot liner with an angled, thin brush. Truthfully, the best way to understand which is your best friend for the job is to test out both.

Let's pretend you've decided on the liquid--in my estimation, an inferior choice, but some of you just can't get down with a brush and I respect that--so, liquid. Choose the shortest pen-tip you can find--bizarrely, my faves have been drugstore finds. The shorter the tip, the more control you have.

Set up a hands-free magnified mirror--you'll need all the hands you can get for this one. Starting with the inner corner of your eye, barely touch the pen to your lashline and slowly drag toward the outer corner of your eye.

The key is to make your line as close to the lashes as humanly possible--if you want to fatten it up later, by all means do.

As you round toward the edge, sort of flick your wrist slightly but confidently toward your temple. It's better to make a longer extended liner--we can always q-tip it off later. The key is more about placement of wing, rather than the length initially.

All of these steps need to be done with an open eye. It's really hard to tell what something as specific as a winged liner will look like when your eyes are open, if you apply when your eyes are closed. This holds true for almost any shadow application, too. As much as you can flex your little eye-muscles to be able to hold both eyes open when you apply, the more you'll know exactly what your face will look like when you're done.

Open both eyes and with a normal expression on your face (not a raised brow) and assess your work. If the wings are uneven, take your pointed q-tips (the best for makeup blunders!) and in upward motions, symmetrize your wings to your heart's desire.

~Pucker up to find the apples of your cheeks, applying a nice rosy color just to the apples and then blending slightly up the cheekbones. If necessary, reapply highlighting powder above the cheekbones to help create depth.

How to Dress Like a Pin-up or Rockabilly Gal!

The latest Pin up/Rockabilly style is changing the standard of beauty. These women present an image of glamour that is a wild mix of past and present. This look can be incorporated into all styles with any kind of body type.

Here's some tips:

Choose a form-fitting skirt. There's no such thing as a loose rockabilly skirt. Tight blackskirt such as our Lucky 13 brand sexy secretary pencil skirt thats embellished with lace and a zipper up the back, or 1 of our Sourpuss Vixen skirts in various colors an styles and occasionally, fishnet stockings and a pair of Iron Fist shoes will make you a retro pin-up girl.
Wear a dress that accentuates your figure. Rockabilly dresses highlight the Ta ta's, whether they're low-cut or cover-up. We carry a variety of dresses dresses from designers such as PaperDoll , Lucky 13, Iron Fist, Folter, Sourpuss, and other Rockin brands. Some rockabilly dresses have full crinoline skirts or petticoats underneath, but they still fit tightly against your backside.
Experiment with tops and blouses tops and blouses. Halter tops, like halter dresses, are very popular in rockabilly fashion, and they come in many colors and prints, including the ever popular animal print. Tight fitting sweaters like Lucky 13's Los Meurtos , Felons, Forever Beautiful, or your's truly's line called Kandee Girl's Kandee Kouture sweater. Dego and tight tees from the same brands along with all the others we carry also work in the rockabilly world.
Tight skinny jeans, or leggings are great to show off your legs and butt, also a pair of high Iron Fist Wolfbeaters or Digi skull flats work. Chuck Taylors are a must as well.
Top off your outfit with hair accessories and other adornments. Dyed, pinned up rockabilly hair wouldn't be complete without a flower from Sourpuss or bandana from Lucky 13 in your hair or a pair of retro sunglasses we carry. And don't forget the tattoos. Even with the hottest, tightest dress, you can't be a rockabilly chick without one of them somewhere on your body.

Allot of people ask why I choose the clothing, accessories, & shoes for the store that I do.....

The Number 1 Reason is becauseIt ROCKS! All kidding aside, everything I choose is because of it's unique style. I make sure that the items I carry you can't find anywhere else around. The #1 reason I hate going to the mall and to it's popular stores are because; say I buy something from one of the big chain "Stylish/trendy" stores, I get all excited to wear it out and get to where I am going And EVERY girl in there is wearing something like it or the same thing I AM!!

Style is about being an individual and making a statement! Not about being like everyone else. Even if you're afraid to make a bold statement, you can start small and wear a pair of Iron Fist shoes with jeans or a tee or cute shirt from Lucky 13 and BELIEVE me, you look HOT! Everywhere I or anyone I know goes out in a pair of from our store, they get complimented. Or even if you are into accessories, try a simple outfit and wear a piece of jewelry, we have tons from our indie designers like Koala Art & Design , Michelle Sallemi and more..... It's something trendy and unique, yet different. I love each and every piece we carry for that reason alone.
